Sendmail on Suse 8.1

Hallo all

You will notice I am trying mailscanner on Suse 8.1 now as I am starting to 
suspect that Red Hat and something here doesn't like each other.
Let's see

When trying to start the sendmail incoming process I get the following error
Warning: Cannot use HostStatusDirectory = .hoststat: No such file or directory

Tghe command I use is 
sendmail -bd -OPrivacyOptions=noetrn -ODeliveryMode=queueonly 
-OQueueDirectory=/var/spool/mqueue.in

Exactly as in the documentation
