There is indeed a debug mode in MailScanner; see your
/opt/MailScanner/etc/MailScanner.conf for details, in the
"Advanced Settings" area, around line 1000:

But the MailScanner filename rules handle this *very* nicely for me
at work and at home. Why did you decide to use mimedefang?
