MailScanner + SpamAssassin - No RPM (?)

I would follow the recommendations of Julian and NOT use the SpamAssassin
RPM. All of my machines are RH too, but I use the .tar.gz distribution of
SpamAssassin. I don't use up2date anymore either...apt seems to work just
as well and is MUCH faster.

Subject: MailScanner + SpamAssassin - No RPM (?)
Since my previous mailing was answered with: YES you need SpamAssassin, but
don't use their RPMs. I'm concerned by who "they" are. I'm assuming that
the statement meant - don't use the RPM available from SpamAssassin's site.
Since my MailScanner box is a Red Hat machine, I had intended to use the
SpamAssassin that is supplied on the RH Installation CDs. Is this not the
right thing to do? I realize that RH may package a version or two back,
(I've got 2.31 in RH 8) but they are really good about keeping their stuff
stable. I like to use the packaged stuff so I can use "up2date" to stay
current.
Anyone here see a problem with doing this - especially Julian?
