Problem installing Pyzor

When I'm attempting to install pyzor I get this:

Traceback (most recent call last):

    import pyzor
  File "lib/pyzor/__init__.py", line 57, in ?
    class Singleton(object):
NameError: name 'object' is not defined

Python is 2.1.3, the server is a RedHat 7.2 system.

Any help would be appreciated.
