Julian, thanks for your help. Looks like this was it. While watching the
log, I was wondering if it would really obey the rules, since mailscanner
shows up with messages like

Oct 24 01:15:48 mail MailScanner[2339]: New Batch: Scanning 1 messages,
4337 bytes
Oct 24 01:15:48 mail MailScanner[2339]: Spam Checks: Starting
Oct 24 01:15:49 mail MailScanner[2339]: Spam Checks: Found 0 spam messages
Oct 24 01:15:49 mail MailScanner[2339]: Virus Scanning: Starting
Oct 24 01:15:49 mail MailScanner[2339]: Virus Scanning: sophos found 0
infections
Oct 24 01:15:49 mail MailScanner[2339]: Virus Scanning: Found 0 viruses
Oct 24 01:15:49 mail MailScanner[2339]: Other Checks: Starting
Oct 24 01:15:49 mail MailScanner[2339]: Other Checks: Found 0 problems
Oct 24 01:15:49 mail MailScanner[2339]: Content Checks: Starting
Oct 24 01:15:49 mail MailScanner[2339]: Content Checks: Found 0 problems
Oct 24 01:15:49 mail MailScanner[2339]: Uninfected: Delivered 1 messages

But in the finally delivered message, I see

X-MailScanner: Not scanned: please contact your Internet E-Mail Service
Provider for details

so I guess everything is working as expected.

Regards,

Steffan
