I agree to an extent.  The base OS is the same though as are the RPM's for the packages.  A selective install should yield a
comparable server product.  I've never had a need for anything more than their standard releases.

I RH are pushing 8.0 more as a desktop product.

 They are trying to sell there server products I think!
