No SpamAssassin report with MailScanner?

I've been using MailScanner for while to scan for viruses, but only
recently installed SpamAssassin. It works fine, but I don't get any
SpamAssassin report, even though I've put
use_terse_report 1
report_header 1
in /etc/mail/spamassassin/local.cf

When I run SpamAssassin manually on test spam messages, I get reports,
but not when run via MailScanner. Is there some secret handshake I have
to know to get the reports?

Thanks.
(Oh, yeah: SpamAssassin 2.11, MailScanner 3.12 on RedHat Linux 6.2
(intel))
