Talking about Redhat.
When installing the RPM the file /etc/rc.d/init.d/mailscanner has a few
lines in it in where makemap is called. Redhat has a test in
/etc/rc.d/init.d/sendmail where the existence of /etc/mail/Makefile is
tested. The administrator can perform special actions whether he uses
sendmail with or without MailScanner.
