SA blacklist or SM access db

Hello,

 Is it more efficient to use the blacklist feature in the
 spam.assassin.prefs.conf file or to use a REJECT in the
 sendmail access database?

 I would think that it would be better to use the sendmail
 access list because this would  cause the message to be
 kicked out before being delivered to the mqueue.in and
 thus it would never have to be checked for viruses or spam.

 Comments?
