This is hopefully the last beta before the next stable release in a couple of days. However, I can't release the stable release until enough people have tried the beta and said it's okay. So please help me by testing it out. If all goes well, I'll release the stable version on Tuesday or Wednesday. Sorry I missed the start of the month, but there were things going on, such as the Symantec Scan Engine support which desperately needed fixing. Cheers folks! Julian, Sorry to be dense here, but I don't how it could be me unless I mucked up the data file (and I don't see anything there). I haven't changed anything regarding IPBlock in a while, except for the actual /etc/MailScanner/IPBlock.conf data file. Is there any particular requirement on the white space in this file, eg: 127.0.0.1[something]100000 Does [something] have to be a tab, or can it be any whitespace? My only other twiddles regarding IPBlock are in MailScanner.conf: Always Looked Up Last = &IPBlock And these minor changes to CustomConfig.pm: (176)> diff CustomConfig.pm.orig CustomConfig.pm 777c777 < $AccessDB = "/etc/mail/access.db"; --- > $AccessDB = "/etc/mail/db/access.db"; 1703c1703 < $AccessDB = "/etc/mail/access.db"; --- > $AccessDB = "/etc/mail/db/access.db"; And BTW, shouldn't line 300 of CustomConfig.pm have backticks, eg: 300c300 < $hostname2 = hostname; --- > $hostname2 = `hostname`; to actually execute the hostname and assign it to the variable? Just checked this. No, it shouldn't. Read the comment just above it and you'll find to use it you need to uncomment a "use" line that provides the function "hostname", so it is perfectly valid code. This is slowing down my mail server, so I stared at sophossavi today to get it to work again. I had to fiddle with and reinstall SAVI-Perl-0.30 first, then I checked the MailScanner.conf file for references to sophossavi. I found these lines: Sophos IDE Dir = /opt/sophos-av/lib/sav and Monitors For Sophos Updates = /opt/sophos-av/lib/sav/*.ide On Sun, using Sophos 4.26, my directory layout requires these to be thus in order for sophossavi work correctly and pass the --lint test: Sophos IDE Dir = /opt/sophos-av/ide Monitors For Sophos Updates = /opt/sophos-av/ide/*.ide Are these changes a peculiarity of Sun, or are the default entries wrong in MailScanner.conf for the general case? (Version 4.68.5++, of course!) It also means that --lint complains slightly but everything works ok in production. They are designed to be right for Sophos v6 which is the latest version which most people now use as far as I know. Not switched to v6 as it is vastly bigger and contains lots of unnecessary stuff (on-access scanning etc.) Will stick with v4 until it is retired. no implied criticism btw!
