From MailScanner at ecs.soton.ac.uk Sat Dec 16 17:38:32 2006 From: MailScanner at ecs.soton.ac.uk (Julian Field) Date: Sat, 16 Dec 2006 17:38:32 +0000 Subject: 4.58.1-1 && Happy Christmas! Message-ID: <45842F18.3090800@ecs.soton.ac.uk> -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I have just released the first beta of 4.58 which I intend to evolve into a stable release of 4.58. Please report problems directly to me, as I still don't have the time to read the mailing list, for which I am most apologetic and annoyed. My day-job has been really busy over the past few months, and shows no signs of slacking off for the time-being. But I will make it a New Year's Resolution to read the mailing list, and try my hardest to recover to the level of support I used to be able to offer. I can only offer my apologies for my lack of support over the past few months, I have just been so busy I haven't had time to breathe. Sorry :-( I will try to hardest to fit in MailScanner support next year, but I can't make any guarantees, I've got a year-long programming job to do. The aim is to effectively automate the whole process of exam marks to degree grades, and so do away with some very long exam-board meetings. It's a huge job, and I am the only person in the department who can be trusted to do the whole job well and reliably. It's one of the consequences of having a certain reputation. :-) You are at the top of my New Year's Resolutions, I promise! How does one turn off "Max Spam Check Size"? I asked on the regular list the other day. The comments in MailScanner.conf give no clue. I poked around in the source, and found the default of 150000 in ConfigDefs.pl. Then I looked in the source code for Message.pm. I guess that the only way now is to set it to a huge integer. Could a better way be coded, or at least a comment added to the MailScanner.conf file, on how to do this?? Also, per the earlier note today about ORDB.org, references to it should be removed from MailScanner. I asked on the regular list the other I think Julian said he was not reading the lists, you might need email him directly. If he replies off-list, can you let us know on-list please, as myself and I'm sure plenty others would like to do this as well. -- Cheers Res "Just a world that we all must share, it's not enough just to stand and stare, is it only a dream that there'll be no more turning away" - Floyd
